Catholics across the whole world will, together with Pope Francis, consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate heart of Mary. This is an important event and I hope all of you will find an opportunity to take part. The situation in Ukraine has affected us all. The devastation and suffering in some parts of Ukraine is unbelievable. Please pray earnestly for an end to this terrible conflict.
In the Transfiguration we glimpse the divine nature of Christ while Moses and Elijah represent the story of salvation history — God’s purpose and will for us. We a part of God’s story. Our lives are momentary stories written on a canvas that reaches from the beginning of Creation to the full appearance of the eternal heavenly glory.
The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church together with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the UK and other Ukrainian organisations have formed a special emergency appeal for the people of the Ukraine.
Let us pray together for Ukraine: we have its flags in front of us. Let us pray together, as brothers and sisters, to Our Lady, Queen of Ukraine.
It is at the Cross, trusting the promises of God, that the fruit of eternal life can blossom. It is at the Cross that the noise of the Tempter’s seductive whispers are finally silenced so that we might clearly hear God’s voice call us by name into eternal life.
