The new members of the Catholic Church were pictured before the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Maundy Thursday.
Fr Raglan, parish priest at Our Lady of Ransom with S Agnes, is authorised to confirm, so we were privileged to be able to celebrate joining the Church in the local church with those who had accompanied us on the journey through Lent.
Fr Raglan coped with all the permutations of who was to be received and who was to be confirmed: those who had been baptised a couple of weeks ago didn’t need to be received, and some of the young people will be confirmed in future years.
After this ceremony we were able to participate fully in the mystery of the Eucharist, bringing to an end our Lenten fast.
The Procession of the Blessed Sacrament featured Pange lingua in Latin to plainchant, which was a bit of a departure for many in the group, and the Vigil closed with Compline.
This post will be updated with other photographs of the occasion. If you have any which are suitable for publication, please email them using the contact form.
