The Holy See announced the death of Pope Benedict during the morning of 31 December 2022.

O God, who of thy ineffable providence didst vouchsafe to number thy servant Pope Benedict in the company of thy high Priests: grant, we beseech thee; that as he did fulfil on earth the office of thine Only Begotten Son, he may be numbered in the everlasting fellowship of thy holy Pontiffs; through the same Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth we thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

The evening Mass on Thursday 12 January will be a Requiem for Pope Benedict.
